03:34 pm - The weekend that was Tmode

I am back from Tmode 2007. I have survive the convention and I enjoyed it some aspects and did not enjoy it in others. In some ways, it was the worst convention and some ways it was the best.

Best of the Convention
-Got to meet and have meaningful conversations through the Brunch and panels especially the Voice Actors.
-Lucien Dodge is going to be one of those NYC Voice Actors we will hear alot about. He is very fun and knows his stuff. Kyle Hebert seems to be doing some cool stuff since moving to LA. Chris Ayres is cooler than Greg Ayres. He is intelligent and funny. Pokemon gets less love than people give Credit for through people like Michelle Knotz and Bill Rogers.
-It is a relaxacon for Anime. Not much programming (two panel rooms and two Video rooms). It's strength is Music and Gaming. That is what I think they should focus on with a couple of VA's who do alot of games to balance things out.


Worst of the convention
-I have never seen a worst run Masquerade. It wasn't Yaya Han, Pixie Kitty, Lucien Dodge, Neogenocide and Yuffiebunny fault. It was whoever the masquerade coordinator. You need alot of tech and some organization to run a fun masquerade. The costumes were cool, but they didn't use any Masquerade lighting. The room probably seated 100, also. I don't know how much that affects things.
-Panels were not attended. All three panels that I tried had nobody in them. One had four, but when I talked they left. I guess I shouldn't do panels. I had some great content for all of the panels, but it didn't workout on that front. It had that feeling of programming of Nolacon or Torcon 3. I wasn't at either one, but I have heard the infamous Worldcon stories for these cons. There was no programming Wonder Woman (aka Janice Gelb) to save this con. I had to fight for a projector and DVD player. I had to push for those things. There wasn't decent speakers in the room for people to enjoy.
-A lot of things including the Video rooms didn't start on time. The Video rooms didn't start until 4:30 PM.

I have alot of conrunning thoughts, but I am going to e-mail those to the convention chairman.
