Looking for Flight Advice
The best Flight to and from Philly is on Frontier Airlines leaving on 8/5/2008 and leaving at 11:55 PM on August 10th. I would basically be taking an overnight flight. It is a $100 on the next cheapest non-stop from BWI (not on Southwest). The trouble is that I would get home on August 11th at 5:20 AM ET and home at about 8:30 AM. Is it worth the hassle to leave for home during Dead Dog Party and get maybe 3 or 4 hours of sleep? Should I just get a room for the night at the Hyatt (where my roomshare is)and fly out for $50-100 more the next day? That is the best fare without flying on one airline and back on another or Southwest. That is what I am looking at because I think the flights aren't getting much cheaper.

Well, if you can afford it, I'd say take the extra hotel night and go back the next day. I try to avoid red-eyes now whenever I can. I can't sleep on planes, I'm 6'3" and 300 lbs, and air travel is a pain most of the time. I now have enough seniority that I can take the extra days off it requires to fly in the day before and out the day after.

I tend to agree, that for an extra $50-$100 I would be tempted to fly out the next day. I've never flown an red-eye flight before, but being almost the same size as Kevin, I don't have problems taking power naps on flights now. A few years ago I did have trouble taking power naps, but not now. Can't explain it sorry.

Guess if you can also take the extra day off of work also plays a big role in this for you, but it sounds like you can take the extra day off.

For the first time on the way back from San Diego last year, I slept on the flight back to Baltimore. I am glad I did or I would have been a zombie at the end of the weekend. It is about $340 to fly back to Philly the next day, so I may do that or Fly out of Baltimore for $400. I would rather fly out of Baltimore because it is a straight shot to Aberdeen by train or Supershuttle.
